Wayfinding & signage for the Ajyal Youth Film Festival

Helping pedestrians and drivers find their way around the festival
I created the entire wayfinding system for the first Ajyal Youth Film Festival, which covered an area of 1,000,000 sq m across Katara, Doha’s cultural village. Two types of plinths were used: one for pedestrians and one for traffic. Both were designed to be identifiable and highly legible during the day and into the evening. The number of locations on the pedestrian signs ranged from 2 to 14 and averaged 9 per sign. Most also displayed maps so – when space allowed – I centred them to the average human eyeline to maximise accessibility. I also designed most of the festival signage, which ranged from daily film screenings to information points.
